At Indian Bible Church, we are in agreement with Jesus’ statement in Matthew 28:19-20 that our one and only purpose is to be a growing disciple who makes growing disciples – persons conformed to the image of Christ. We define a disciple of Jesus in the following way:
A disciple is someone who, through faith, repentance, and baptism, has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and loves God supremely above all else. They intentionally follow Christ’s example, walking with Him daily and growing in faith, while mastering, meditating on, and memorizing God’s Word with the goal of knowing Christ deeply. A true disciple rejects the world’s ways, takes up the cross, and aligns their life with Scripture, progressively becoming more like Christ through submission, self-sacrifice, and obedience. They share the gospel, love, serve, and mentor others with the goal of making disciples and preparing them for Christ’s return. Above all, they forsake everything to follow Christ wholeheartedly.
